Dizinin hikayesi, New York'ta yaÅŸayan 20'li yaÅŸlarda üçü kadın, üçü erkek olan altı kiÅŸilik yakın arkadaÅŸ gurubunun yaÅŸamları etrafında geçmektedir. Dizinin baÅŸrolünü bu altı karakter oluÅŸturur. Dizide ki bu 6 karakterden hiçbiri diÄŸer bir karakterden ön plana çıkmamıştır.

Dizide ki karakterlerden Joey Tribbiani, Friends sona erdikten sonra aynı karakteri devam ettirdiği "Joey" adlı diziye başlamıştır.
